W-LAN at school sites
W-LAN at school sites
In recent years, the district has worked steadily to equip all school locations in Waldeck-Frankenberg with fast internet. The broadband expansion with fast fibre optic cable has been completed in Waldeck-Frankenberg to the extent that all 68 school locations will be equipped with fast internet by the summer.
From the fibre optic cable to the router
How does this work? First, the school buildings are provided with the appropriate house connections. These are necessary to connect the fibre optic cable coming into the school building from outside via a junction box to the school server and the school's house network. Only then can a corresponding router be installed that can read the fibre optic signal - and ultimately forward it to the end devices such as tablets and computers in the school. To implement the individual steps, the district is working hand in hand with craftsmen from the region and corresponding telecommunications companies.
Transmission at the speed of light
An internet line via fibre optic cable has many advantages: The network signal is sent through them by light - and transports the fast internet literally at the speed of light from A to B. The advantage: due to the high-speed transmission, there is almost no loss of information. The internet line thus works extremely fast.
Countdown
Numerous schools in Waldeck-Frankenberg can already use the fast internet via fibre optics. Together with specialised tradesmen from Waldeck-Frankenberg and the corresponding telecommunications companies, the district is working every day to ensure that ALL schools in Waldeck-Frankenberg can use the fast internet as quickly as possible. The structural prerequisites for this have already been created.
The technical conditions are currently being created for this. The technicians of the contracted service providers are active almost every day in the schools in Waldeck-Frankenberg in order to "splice" the fibre optic connections - i.e. to connect them to the schools' house network and thus establish the connection.
