Weidemann company in dialogue with district administrator and mayor
Green energy management, the use of state-of-the-art technology and the training of junior staff: A fortnight ago on Friday, Weidemann focussed on various topics to secure the future of the Korbach site. Managing Directors Bernd Apfelbeck and Jens Harde jointly reported to their visitors, District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst and Mayor Stefan Kieweg, on their plans for the coming years and on the further development of the company site in Korbach.
Important employer for the region
"The Weidemann company is an important partner for the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg and the town of Korbach," agreed District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst and Mayor Stefan Kieweg. With currently around 600 employees and a rising trend, the company with its location in Korbach offers many inhabitants of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district a secure job. From the storage of individual parts to painting via powder coating to the assembly and subsequent sale of machines for agriculture and construction, there is plenty to do. To ensure that this remains the case, Managing Directors Bernd Apfelbeck and Jens Harde want to further develop the company site and make it fit for the future. "I've been working here for 20 years now and I still see Korbach as an important company location," explained Bernd Apfelbeck during the interview.
Young talent in the district
The training of junior staff was also a topic of discussion. Jens Harde commented: "Training junior staff is very important to us. We also train more than we need and attach great importance to the high quality of our training programme. Our trainees are multipliers and advocates for our company." District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst emphasised that the district is constantly working to further expand the opportunities in the district for companies and young talent. For example, a new campus for the Technical University of Central Hesse is being built in Frankenberg.
Making production more effective
Weidemann has been located in the Korbach industrial estate since 2007. With the administration wing and the halls for development, production and storage, the company occupies a large area there. In the coming years, structural measures are planned to increase the efficiency of the production of agricultural and construction machinery. "We have developed a special procedure for such cases. Together with our specialist construction and environmental services, we will sit down in advance of the application and jointly identify challenges and hurdles that can be directly taken into account when submitting the application. This will ensure that applications do not have to be amended and adapted several times. This process makes it easier for the applicant, but also for us as the administration," explained the district administrator.
ReduceCO2 and costs with green energy
Green energy planning is also an essential part of site conceptualisation. "Good climate management is extremely important in today's world. In addition to the economic aspects, climate protection should definitely be considered in revised site concepts, including rainwater storage and utilisation," pointed out Mayor Stefan Kieweg during the discussion. A number of wind turbines are to be built in Korbach and the surrounding area in the coming years. The Weidemann company is planning to be connected to wind energy and thus - in addition to the existing energy generation through photovoltaics - to position itself even more greenly.
