District is looking for carers for youth camps
The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is once again offering training to become a supervisor this year; registration is possible until 22 January 2025 . The basic pedagogical training qualifies those interested in independently leading, accompanying and supervising camps with children and young people. After successfully completing the training, graduates are scheduled to work at the district's youth camps.
Interested parties are given the opportunity to find out in a practical way whether they are suited to working in leisure care. "Our carers include school pupils, trainees and students, but also professionals. Their commitment makes the camps exciting and eventful. We are delighted that so many different people show an interest in volunteering every year," says Ines Normann, Deputy Head of Sports and Youth Work at the Waldeck-Frankenberg district youth development centre.
One carer reports: "In addition to teaching important content and preparing for the assignment as a carer, the training is a bit like a class reunion. You can exchange ideas with other interested people who have already become friends as veteran carers and you have the opportunity to get to know new people."
For their work, leisure time supervisors receive an expense allowance, reimbursement of travel expenses and free board and lodging during the leisure time. The activity can be recognised as an internship, and time off for voluntary work in youth work is possible. The training takes place from 31 January - 2 February and from 9 - 11 May 2025. A further date will be determined individually by the leisure teams.
Registrations are accepted by the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg, Youth Development in the Sports and Youth Work Department by e-mail or by calling 05631 954-1493. They can also provide further information on the training and work of carers.
