District again involved in Hessian Integration Conference

Breaking down thought patterns, contributing ideas: The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is also involved in the Hessian Integration Conference in this legislative period. The district's integration officer Latif Hamamiyeh Al-Homssi was reappointed to the committee by the Hessian Minister for Social Affairs and Integration, Heike Hofmann.

Strengthening society and participation
At the constituent meeting, important focal points for the work of the coming years were defined, including topics such as early childhood education, racism, social cohesion and the structural participation of people with a history of migration in the labour market. These topics will be explored in greater depth in specific working groups. The results will be incorporated into the Hessian Integration Plan.

"Bringing local integration issues to the state level"
"The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is already active in many areas of integration work. Over the past few years, we have been able to build up a team with great expertise in the field of migration and integration," says District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst. The renewed appointment of the district to the Hessian Integration Conference is a sign of expertise and successful work. "It is important that the district is now once again actively sitting at the table and contributing to the topic of integration at state level," says Karl-Friedrich Frese, First District Councillor. During the first meetings of the committee, initial integration policy priorities have already been agreed, which are to be worked on in the coming years.

Background: Hessian Integration Conference
The Integration Conference is a body made up of around 80 representatives from civil society, politics, administration and academia, businesses, educational organisations, religious communities and migrant organisations. They meet at regular intervals to discuss integration policy challenges, to formulate needs and approaches and to advise the state government on integration and migration policy issues.
