Self-help group "Caring relatives" meets for the first time on 24 October

With the support of the Waldeck-Frankenberg self-help contact centre, a new self-help group has been set up that focuses on family carers. The first meeting will take place on Thursday, 24 October, from 4 to 5:30 pm in the rooms of "Treffpunkt e. V." at Hainstr. 51 in Frankenberg (Eder). Anyone interested is cordially invited to attend.

A stroke, a mental illness, another physical or mental impairment of a loved one... Suddenly everything is completely different, everyday life is turned upside down. Life changes, sometimes gradually, but often from one day to the next. Anyone who has to care for a relative completely unexpectedly is thrown off course themselves. How do you deal with this new situation? Initiated by Cornelia Schönbrodt and Christel Leonhäuser-Geitz, the members of the new self-help group should support and encourage each other, but also seek expert advice or take part in self-help training courses.

The self-help contact centre of the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg will be happy to answer any queries and put you in touch with the new group, as well as with self-help in general, by e-mail at shk@lkwafkb.de or by telephone on 05631 954-1888. Anyone wishing to find out more about the self-help services on offer can also do so using the self-help guide. The brochure can be requested free of charge using the contact details above or collected from the self-help contact centre at the health department at Südring 3 in Korbach.
