And suddenly everything is different...": Lecture on sexualised violence

The women's advice centre of the association Frauen helfen Frauen e. V. Waldeck-Frankenberg, together with the specialist service for women and equal opportunities of the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg, invites you to the lecture "And suddenly everything is different... - Effects of sexualised violence". The event will take place on 29 November at 6 pm at the Wolfgang-Bonhage-Museum in Korbach and is free of charge.

In her lecture, Daniela Kramer gives an insight into the different forms of sexual violence and their consequences. The term emphasises that sexual acts are often used as a means of exercising power and control. Girls and women with impairments or disabilities are particularly at risk, as sexualised violence often takes place in relationships of dependency. Shockingly, two thirds of all rapes take place in familiar surroundings, such as at home, with friends or at work. However, sexual violence does not only manifest itself in rape, but also through sexual innuendo, obscene gestures, unwanted messages and other assaults.

Another important aspect of the lecture is dealing with the consequences of sexualised violence. Victims often suffer from physical and psychological impairments, which are referred to as trauma-related disorders. Daniela Kramer will discuss possible reactions and symptoms following an experience of violence and explain what support options are available. After the presentation, there will also be an opportunity to exchange ideas and ask questions.

In order to plan the event better, please register by 28 November. Spontaneous visits are also welcome.
