Neutrality requirement in political education and democracy work
The North Hessian specialist centres for democracy promotion and cross-phenomenon extremism prevention (DEXT specialist centres) are inviting you to a lecture followed by a workshop on 3 December 2024. The topic of the event is the question of whether the neutrality requirement in political education and democracy work means a "muzzle" and how these challenges can be overcome. The event will take place from 5 - 8 p.m. on 3 December in the City Council Chamber in the Town Hall, Obere Königsstraße 8, 34117 Kassel. Teachers, school social workers and professionals from extracurricular child and youth work are particularly invited to an interdisciplinary exchange on this difficult topic.
In view of the many crises of our time - from social polarisation and the rise of radical parties to growing populism - political education professionals in particular are facing new challenges. The neutrality requirement is increasingly perceived as a challenge, which can cause both uncertainty and misunderstandings. The aim of the event is to highlight the possibilities and limits of the neutrality requirement and to provide certainty for all those involved in administration, jurisdiction and civil society. Prof Dr Friedhelm Hufen, Professor of Constitutional and Administrative Law at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and former member of the Rhineland-Palatinate Constitutional Court, has been invited to speak at the event.
Participation in the event, including catering, is free of charge.
