K 50 between Rhadern and Fürstenberg closed from 15 November

On the district road 50 between Rhadern and Fürstenberg, there are cracks in the carriageway and a lowering of the embankment over a length of 250 metres. A specialist company has already been commissioned to repair the road. However, due to the current weather conditions, the work cannot start at the moment. The K50 will therefore be fully closed from 15 November until probably the end of April.

K 50 and K38 to be repaired for 900,000 euros
Weather events such as heavy rain or extreme drought have also been affecting the condition of the district roads in Waldeck-Frankenberg for some time. Slope failures in the embankment area, cracks in the roads and subsidence of the carriageway can be the result - as is the case with district road 50 between Rhadern and Fürstenberg and district road 38 between Frebershausen and Albertshausen. As a result, the embankment has subsided and damage has been caused to the carriageways, for which the district has already initiated a repair project totalling around 900,000 euros following a comprehensive assessment. Unfortunately, the weather and the availability of the specialist company have delayed the start of construction.

Environmentally conscious and sustainable special process
A special process is used to repair and stabilise the road surface. The soil on embankments is mixed with a cement-substance mixture to create a type of soil concrete that stabilises the slope and thus the road surface. The process is extremely effective and sustainable, but is only offered by a few specialised companies.

"Don't prolong the closure unnecessarily"
One of these specialised companies has already been commissioned to repair the K50 and K38. "As soon as the weather permits, this specialist company will take care of repairing the affected sections of the carriageway," reports Karl-Friedrich Frese, First District Councillor of the district. "Until then, we have to close at least district road 50 between Rhadern and Fürstenberg for traffic safety reasons." One of the lanes has already been closed, and from 15 November the road will have to be closed completely for a transitional period. "The district construction office, Hessen Mobil and the contractor will keep an eye on the situation at all times and start work as soon as the weather permits so that the closure is not unnecessarily prolonged." During the period of the full road closure, small-scale diversions will be in place via Rhadern, Goddelsheim and Immighausen and vice versa.
