Anniversary exhibition opens in Bad Arolsen on 2 December
Waldeck-Frankenberg is celebrating its anniversary this year - among other things with a travelling exhibition to mark its 50th birthday. Having already made stops in Korbach, Frankenberg and Bad Wildungen, the exhibition can be seen from 2 to 22 December in Bad Arolsen in the exhibitions at the castle. It will be opened on 2 December at 4 pm in the Christian Daniel Rauch Museum. Anyone interested is cordially invited to attend.
50 years, 50 stories from Waldeck-Frankenberg
As part of the travelling exhibition "Wir runden!", 50 people from the district tell their personal stories that connect them to Waldeck-Frankenberg. They all live here - some have only been here for a few months, others have lived here their whole lives. Some have experienced the district merger at first hand, others only know it from history books. They all bring with them an individual view of North Hesse's largest district - and thus reflect the diverse good life in Waldeck-Frankenberg. The exhibition was conceived by the district together with the Wolfgang-Bonhage-Museum Korbach, the Museum im Kloster Frankenberg and the Bad Wildungen Municipal Museums.
Exhibition opening on 2 December in Bad Arolsen
After the exhibition made stops in Korbach in spring, Frankenberg in summer and Bad Wildungen in autumn, it can be seen in Bad Arolsen from 2 to 22 December - on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2.30 to 5 p.m. in the exhibition rooms in the castle. It will open on 2 December in the Christian Daniel Rauch Museum.
"The exhibition in Bad Arolsen is the last event in our 50th anniversary year of the district. We would like to cordially invite all interested parties to the opening of our travelling exhibition and look forward to welcoming numerous guests," say District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst and First District Councillor Karl-Friedrich Frese. "We are delighted that the station in Bad Arolsen is now also bringing the North Waldeck area into the spotlight," emphasises Sandra Simshäuser, Director of the Bad Arolsen Museum. A visit to the anniversary exhibition, which has been expanded to include further exhibits, is also worthwhile for people who have already seen the exhibition in Korbach, Frankenberg or Bad Wildungen.
Design icons from the 70s
Brightly coloured flokati carpets, Pril flowers, vintage armchairs and motif wallpaper: In addition to the personal stories, the exhibition also focuses on the 70s. Visitors can also look forward to design icons from this period, which not only reflect the zeitgeist of this special decade, but also invite them on a short journey through time into the extraordinary history of the district. The district and the museums would like to express their sincere thanks to all those who have contributed to the exhibition or provided exhibits from their personal collections. This has played a major part in breathing life into the exhibition.
Background
The formation of the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg through the merger of the two old districts in 1974 was the result of a comprehensive regional reform that the state of Hesse had initiated half a decade earlier and steadily driven forward. The state government hoped that the mergers would result in larger and therefore more efficient municipal administrations. The creation of the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg was regulated by the law on the reorganisation of the districts of Frankenberg and Waldeck of 28 September 1973, which came into force on 1 January 1974: Waldeck-Frankenberg was born!
