ProBe presentation days: Pupils show off their talents

District Administrator and Head of Schools Jürgen van der Horst points out that secondary school pupils in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg can already orientate themselves individually in their careers during their time at school. "They also have the opportunity to try out practical applications and receive concrete support from social education specialists when looking for an apprenticeship," the district administrator continued. This is made possible by the vocational orientation programme "Profile Development and Vocational Orientation", or ProBe for short, in which the young people test their skills and talents from Year 7 onwards and get to know various occupational fields in Year 8.

At the end of each ProBe phase, the young people in year 8 show what they have worked on over the last two school years at presentation days. In 2024, the following school year, parents, teachers, companies and other interested parties will be able to admire the ProBe results in three participating schools. Together with the educational institutes, the district's specialist service for schools and education, which is in charge of the event, invites you to visit the presentation days: at the vocational schools in Korbach on Thursday, 6 June from 2 - 4 pm, at the Hans-Viessmann-Schule in Frankenberg on Thursday, 13 June from 4 - 6 pm and at the Ense-Schule in Bad Wildungen on Monday, 17 June from 4 - 6 pm.

"The vocational orientation measures that have already been carried out have been very successful," emphasises District Administrator van der Horst. There has been a 50 per cent placement rate in vocational training per round. ProBe demonstrably promotes the completion of successful vocational training programmes, and the drop-out rate can also be reduced through vocational orientation. In this context, the Schools and Education Service is constantly on the lookout for experts for practical vocational training. As part of the planning for the new school year, further supporters from the world of work - i.e. companies that are interested in taking part in the programme and teaching in a vocational field for a fee - are always welcome. Background ProBe
The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg runs the programme together with the Waldeck-Frankenberg district trades association, the vocational schools in Korbach and Bad Arolsen, the Hans-Viessmann-Schule Frankenberg and the state education authority. The following general education schools are also involved: Kaulbachschule Bad Arolsen, Kugelsburgschule Volkmarsen, Schulzentrum an der Warte Sachsenhausen, Cornelia-Funke-Schule Gemünden, Gesamtschule Battenberg, Ortenbergschule and Burgwaldschule Frankenberg, Mathias-Bauer-Schule and Ense-Schule Bad Wildungen, Integrierte Gesamtschule Edertal and, most recently, Gustav-Stresemann-Gymnasium Bad Wildungen.

After the introductory phase in year 7, the participating young people can get a taste of three different vocational fields in the first half of year 8 and deepen their knowledge and skills in their chosen vocational field in the second half of the year. They can choose from, for example, electrical engineering, wood technology, social work, but also home economics and nutrition as well as business and administration. Teachers from the vocational schools in Korbach, the Hans-Viessmann-Schule in Frankenberg, the District Craftsmen's Association and experts from the specialised field (from companies) provide instruction in the various trades.
