Self-help contact centre seminar on 5 July

The self-help contact point invites all interested parties to a one-day seminar on 5 July from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the district's new administration building at Südring 3 in Korbach. The topic of the seminar is "Accompanying life is also accompanying death and grief".

The event is aimed at anyone who wants to deal with the topic of "Transitions in life, saying goodbye, letting go". The seminar will be led by Benno Witteler, a retired director of studies who worked at the vocational college in Olsberg specialising in curative education. During the lunch break, participants will have the opportunity to eat lunch together in the "Kreisbar", the canteen of the Kreishaus at Südring 2, at their own expense. There is no charge for attending the seminar. As the number of places is limited, please register by 30 June 2024 by email at shk@lkwafkb.de or by telephone on 05631 954-1888. The team at the self-help contact point will be happy to answer any queries at any time.

If end-of-life care is to become a matter of course, it is necessary to address the issues of dying and bereavement when dealing with people - a topic that unfortunately still tends to be avoided as it triggers fear in many people. However, end-of-life care cannot be detached from the kind of care that really deserves the term. Dealing with the end of life and the effect of the end of life on those left behind can be enriching.

A common argument is that caring for the dying is too much of a psychological burden that not everyone can cope with. However, the experience of dying and death is part of life for all of us. Confrontation with it is simply unavoidable, so it is helpful to think about ways and means of dealing with it at an early stage.

The seminar held by the self-help contact centre on 5 July is interactive and offers participants space for their own experiences. The aim of the event is to help participants find their own ways to minimise helplessness in their actual experience and to better deal with transitions in life, letting go and grieving.
