New ADHD self-help group meets on 9 July

Supported by the Waldeck-Frankenberg self-help contact centre, a new self-help group has been set up on the subject of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). It is aimed at adults who suffer from this disorder, as well as relatives of a child diagnosed or suspected of having ADHD. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, 9 July 2024, from 7 p.m. at the "Treffpunkt" in Flechtdorfer Straße 11 in Korbach. Interested parties are cordially invited to attend.

People of all ages with ADHD face many challenges and hurdles in everyday life. However, these are often not visible to others. The new self-help group aims to create a space for those affected to share their experiences. Among other things, it is about simple tips on how to make everyday life with ADHD easier to cope with. The group will also discuss how best to deal with problems during the diagnostic process - waiting times of 18 - 24 months are now the norm. The group works according to the principle: "ADHD lasts a lifetime, so what's the best way to deal with it?"

The self-help contact centre of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district will be happy to answer any queries and put you in touch with the new group, as well as with self-help in general, by email at shk@lkwafkb.de or by telephone on 05631 954-1888. Anyone wishing to find out about the services on offer can also do so using the newly published self-help guide. The brochure can be requested free of charge using the contact details above or collected from the self-help contact centre at the health department at Südring 3 in Korbach.
