Dimitrij Schmalz is the district's new business promoter
The district's economic development agency has a new head: Dimitrij Schmalz has been Managing Director of Wirtschaftsförderung und Regionalmanagement Waldeck-Frankenberg GmbH since 1 July. He succeeds Barbara Eckes, who held the post until she took office as mayor of the town of Frankenberg.
Dimitrij Schmalz came to Germany with his family in 1991 and found a new home in Waldeck-Frankenberg. He became part of the Viessmann family back in 2001 as part of his training as a mechatronics engineer, where he began his career in quality management in 2008. With degrees in mechanical engineering and business administration, he combines both technical and business management expertise.
During his professional career, he founded the company "KuSchmIn GbR" as a side business in 2013 as part of his final thesis in cooperation with Wirtschaftsförderung und Regionalmanagement Waldeck-Frankenberg GmbH. The aim of the company was to give innovative people quick access to the realisation and protection of patents with the help of the entrepreneur network. This entrepreneurial experience has further sharpened his focus on the needs and challenges of local businesses. Since 2022, he has worked in quality management in Finland as Head of Quality at Viessmann Refrigeration Systems.
"Economic development is not just a goal, but an attitude"
Dimitrij Schmalz is looking forward to the new tasks and challenges: "Economic development is not just a goal, but an attitude. It drives me to go above and beyond and always do my best for our region and future generations. The true power of shaping the future with a connection to our origins in the here and now lies in our networking". Together with his team, he wants to further promote the region as an attractive business location, support local companies and identify prospects for new businesses.
District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst and First District Councillor Karl-Friedrich Frese emphasise that they welcome Dimitrij Schmalz's move to business development: "We are delighted to have found a highly qualified managing director in him, who will continue to develop our region and our business location with great enthusiasm. We wish him every success in his new role."
