Grant notification handed over to "Goldbreite" campsite

The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is subsidising the "Goldbreite" campsite with around 160,000 euros. District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst, together with the village and regional development department, presented the funding notification to the campsite operator Gerd Fieseler last week.

The "Goldbreite" campsite in Heringhausen on Lake Diemelsee has been in existence since 1962. Now the operator, Gerd Fieseler, has considered a new concept to meet the growing requirements of camping tourism and the increasing demand in the long term. The project is being supported with funds from the state of Hesse and the European Union with a subsidy of 25 per cent. The funds will be passed on to the campsite by the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg. "The expansion and modernisation of the campsite in Diemelsee is important for the tourist infrastructure of our region. The planned measures will increase the attractiveness for visitors and at the same time create a sustainable offer that meets the growing demands of campers," emphasised District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst at the presentation of the decision.

The modernisation measures include a restructuring of the campsite to meet the increased demand for tourist pitches and rental units and to meet technical requirements. In the front area of the site, generously parcelled tourist pitches will be created that are easy to reach by vehicle. A barrier with licence plate recognition in conjunction with an advanced online booking system will facilitate access. Larger pitches for permanent campers and caravans for hire will be provided in a separate area, including water and sewage connections. In addition, tiny houses with their own sanitary facilities and internet connection will be set up on the riverside path.

The restructuring of the campsite will cost a total of 782,544.01 euros. Of this, 163,839.24 euros will be granted as funding, made up of funds from the European Union (80%) and the state of Hesse (20%). The remaining amount of 618,704.75 euros will be provided by the operator from its own funds. The restructuring should be completed by October 2026.
