Kassel Sea Sand: New brochure of the Border Worlds Geopark

"Kasseler Meeressand - Meeresrauschen zwischen Wolfhagen und Zierenberg" - this is the title of a new information brochure published by the GrenzWelten National Geopark. The Geopark was supported in the production of the brochure by the Regional Museum Wolfhager Land and the Wolfhagen geologist Dr Reiner Kunz. The brochure is available free of charge, can be downloaded online, can be ordered from the project office and is available in many public places, e.g. tourist information offices or municipal administrations.

"Kassel Sea Sand" takes readers back to a time about 25 million years ago when the sound of the waves of a primeval sea could be heard in the Wolfhager Land. The legacy of this time can be found today in the form of the Kassel Sea Sand, which gives the book its title and is known among geologists for its wealth of microfossils. They are of enormous importance for the reconstruction of past landscapes and enable the chronological classification of sediments as well as a palaeo-ecological interpretation of the conditions of formation. Those who are particularly interested in microfossils will find them in the new geological exhibition in the Regional Museum Wolfhager Land. There they can be identified and marvelled at under the microscope.
