Three new hazardous materials equipment vehicles for Waldeck-Frankenberg

Minister of the Interior Peter Beuth visited the town of Frankenberg (Eder) and handed over three equipment trolleys for hazardous materials for the towns of Bad Arolsen, Bad Wildungen and Frankenberg (Eder). The state of Hesse funded the purchase of the three equipment trolleys with a total of around 390,000 euros.

"The Hessian state government stands firmly by the side of the fire brigades in Hesse. The voluntary commitment to fire protection is invaluable to the state, which is why the guarantee sum for fire protection is to be further increased to 47 million euros in the coming years and until 2024. This will enable us to provide the fire brigades with the emergency technology needed for modern firefighting in our Hessian cities and communities. A good example of this support is the purchase of equipment trolleys for the towns of Bad Arolsen, Bad Wildungen and Frankenberg. The equipment trolleys will serve the firefighters well. In the end, however, it is our firefighters who, with an unbelievably high level of self-motivation and willingness to help, provide assistance to the people on the spot and in times of need. We thank you for this and wish that you all always return safely from your missions and to your families," said Minister of the Interior Peter Beuth.

The purchase of the equipment trucks was subsidised by the state of Hesse with 133,500 euros each in Bad Arolsen and Bad Wildungen and with 120,150 euros in Frankenberg (Eder). The hazardous materials equipment vehicle (GW-G) is a fire brigade vehicle with a fire brigade technical load as special equipment for A (situations involving nuclear substances), B (situations involving biological substances), C (situations involving chemical substances) situations. The GW-G is used for environmental protection and provides equipment required for immediate measures to combat accidents involving hazardous substances and goods.

The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg has benefited from the increase in the guarantee sum for fire protection: In the past two years, a total of 22 vehicles and five structural measures were funded with a total amount of around 2.2 million euros. In the past year 2022 alone, grants for 13 vehicles and one structural measure with a volume of around 1.2 million euros were approved or pre-decided.
