District committees vote for exemption of EWF managing director

The managing director of the local energy supplier of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district is currently in Ukraine to accompany the Russian sham referendum as an election observer. "Russia's forced referendums in Ukraine are hypocritical and illegal under international law and a pretext to appropriate Russian-occupied territories in Ukraine. We condemn this illegal annexation in the strongest possible terms," says District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst, who in his function is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Energie Waldeck-Frankenberg.

The council of elders and the district committee of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district therefore met on Saturday for a special session to discuss the current situation. With a large majority, the representatives of the committees voted in favour of releasing the managing director from his duties. All MPs voted in favour, except for the representative of the AfD parliamentary group.

"The broad majority of the committee members, with the exception of the AfD, spoke out in favour of the immediate release of the managing director at today's meeting, which was convened at very short notice. This is a very clear political signal from the district's committees," Jürgen van der Horst continues. "With this clear position, we will go into the consultations with the EWF bodies."

The supervisory boards of Energie Waldeck-Frankenberg, Verbands-Energie-Werk Gesellschaft für Erneuerbare Energien mbH and the EWF association board will make a final decision on the exemption at the meeting on Monday.
