Apply online for a driving licence with the district now

Registering a car, applying for benefits and permits or registering for events: Numerous matters can already be dealt with online at the Waldeck-Frankenberg district - from now on also the initial application for a driving licence. In future, new drivers will be able to submit their initial application for a driving licence online to the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg. With just a few clicks - via PC or conveniently via smartphone - you can enter all the information and upload the necessary documents. Even a biometric photo can be taken by selfie. This not only saves a trip to the office, but also a lot of time. The application process has been completely digitalised by the district in recent weeks. How exactly does it work?

Application process completely digitalised
Simply enter the keyword "Apply for a driving licence online" in the search field on the district's website. Under the tab "Online procedure", you will be taken directly to the start page for the application, which also provides information on the necessary documents and access. In order to apply for a driving licence, you have to identify yourself online, for example with your identity card or residence permit.

You are then guided step by step through the process - from selecting the desired driving licence class to uploading the biometric photo, which you can even take yourself at home with your smartphone. Using the mouse or your finger, you can add your signature, which will later be printed on your driving licence. Alternatively, you can also upload your digital signature. The necessary documents such as proof of first aid training or the eye test can also be uploaded with just a few clicks. Fees can be paid quickly and easily via ePayment.

At the nationwide Digital Day on 24 June, in which the district will participate again this year, the online application for the driving licence will be presented once more. At 4 p.m. in Korbach's community centre, those interested can find out about the new service - or simply take part in the 45-minute short presentation digitally from home or on the road.

Handling requests online
The district is relentlessly pushing ahead with the digitisation of application procedures: already 80 requests can be handled online at the district. "By the end of 2022, we will be able to provide the majority of our services in digital form," announces District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst. "This not only reduces hurdles, but also saves paper and time and ensures improved citizen service.
