Mobile hazardous waste unit on the road again in Waldeck-Frankenberg
In the period from 14 March to 1 April 2022 inclusive, specially marked collection vehicles will again be on the road to accept hazardous waste. This is a convenient way for citizens to dispose of this waste properly. Small quantities of hazardous waste from private households can be handed in free of charge. A disposal fee of 7 euros per kg is charged to craft enterprises, small businesses, service companies or administrative bodies.
Environmentally hazardous waste is accepted; the maximum quantity accepted is limited to 100 kg per collection and household. The containers must not weigh more than 20 kg and must not be larger than 20 litres. In the case of laboratory chemicals, concentrates, acids and alkalis as well as PCB-containing condensers, the maximum total quantity accepted is 10 kg and 10 litres respectively, and 1 kg and 1 litre respectively for cyanides and mercury-containing waste. Solar thermal fluid and antifreeze from solar systems can usually be returned via the installer; here, the free drop-off at the mobile hazardous waste collection point for private households is limited to 20 litres.
Liquid hazardous waste must not be mixed with each other and should, if possible, be handed in at the collection vehicle in the original container with appropriate labelling. Under no circumstances may they be disposed of via the toilet or down the drain. The containers must be tightly closed and will be disposed of with them. Used oils are not accepted, as all dealers are legally obliged to take back used oil in the amount of the fresh oil sold. Used medicines from private households are accepted without packaging in small quantities.
In addition to hazardous waste, small electrical appliances with a volume of up to 10 litres can also be handed in. No edge length may exceed 50 cm. Televisions and monitors as well as all large appliances - e.g. cookers, washing machines, dryers, microwaves, extractor bonnets, ironing machines, lawn mowers - are generally excluded from acceptance via the mobile collection. They can be delivered free of charge in household quantities to the waste disposal facilities of the district or disposed of via the bulky waste collection/ depots of the cities and municipalities.
Neon tubes and energy-saving lamps can be handed in up to a maximum quantity of 10 pieces. In larger quantities, they can also be handed in free of charge at the waste disposal facilities of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district. Commercial waste producers with a quantity of more than 50 lamps to be handed in should contact commercial collection points.
Hazardous waste must be handed in personally to protect children who are playing. Under no circumstances may the waste be left unattended at the collection points. To ensure a smooth process, please do not park your own motor vehicle at the collection point for the mobile hazardous waste unit and keep the access roads clear. Please wear personal protective equipment, consisting of gloves and sturdy shoes, as well as mouth and nose protection when making deliveries.
By using pollutant-free products, you make an important contribution to environmental protection. For further information, please contact the district's waste advisory service on tel. no. 06451 / 743-746 or the district's waste management service.
