Citizen participation in the cycling concept
Since the beginning of this year, the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg has been working on a district-wide cycle path concept for everyday cycling. With the help of the new contact person for cycling, Nicole Sude, the second public participation has been taking place online since 27 August. It is still possible until 19 September, and all interested parties are invited to participate.
In order to secure the quality of living and life in the district, sustainable mobility is imperative. The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg would therefore like to adapt the cycle path network even better to the needs of the people. In order for this to be successful, the Department of Construction, which is entrusted with the implementation, is dependent on the feedback of the residents. "In order to be able to adapt the cycle paths to the needs of the citizens, we have to know their wishes. This project therefore thrives on the participation of each individual," explained head of the building department Karl-Friedrich Frese.
The district receives financial support for this project through funds from the Hesse State Directive on the Promotion of Local Mobility. The finished concept is to be successively implemented over the next ten years. In a first citizens' event in March, the project was presented in detail to the participants and a survey was opened. On an interactive map, all interested parties could enter route suggestions or comments, among other things. On 27 August 2021, the expert office presented the current status and various measures, after which the digital participation phase started until 19 September.
"In this round, the map module and the comment function will be used again. Anyone who wants to participate can comment on the different measures and thus contribute their ideas and suggestions," says cycling contact Nicole Sude. Further information on the project is available at www.landkreis-waldeckfrankenberg.de/radverkehrskonzept. Citizens can also contact the cycling team directly by e-mail at radverkehrskonzept@lkwafkb.de to communicate their wishes and suggestions.
