District organised Girls' Week at Lake Edersee

On the first weekend of the autumn holidays, the district's sports and youth work department invited participants to the youth hostel Hohe Fahrt in Lake Edersee for the popular "Girls' Week". The weekend was organised in cooperation with the Protestant church, the youth centres in Bad Arolsen, Bad Wildungen and Frankenberg as well as the local authorities. For three days, girls aged 11-14 could take part in various activities, be creative and active, but above all maintain contact with their peers and experience themselves.

During a creative evening, the girls discovered their artistic vein. They batiked T-shirts, knotted bracelets and necklaces, decorated picture frames and made pencil boxes out of tin cans. Under the motto "We are cool the way we are!", there were two different offers for a whole day that taught basic skills of self-assertion and conflict resolution. The focus was on posture, self-assertion, learning to say no and mediating or resolving conflicts. A canoe trip on the still quite full Edersee rounded off the programme of the "Girls' Week". The successful weekend was a lot of fun for everyone.
