Over 100,000 doses administered: County calls for vaccinations
Vaccinations are an important component in the fight against the pandemic - especially with regard to the spread of the delta variant, which currently almost dominates the infection situation nationwide. The Korbach vaccination centre recently reached the 100,000 mark for vaccinations. Nevertheless, the district continues to appeal to all citizens to get vaccinated if possible.
Last week, the 100,000th vaccination was administered at the centre - to the vaccinated Timo Hünig from Hatzfeld. This brings the total number of doses administered in the centre and by the mobile teams in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg to six figures: as of today, 102,302 vaccinations have been given - 57,266 first vaccinations and 45,036 second vaccinations. In relation to the district's population of 156,528, this means that 36.6 percent of the population have received their first vaccination. 28.8 percent already have full vaccination protection. The vaccinations of general practitioners and company doctors are added to this, so that the actual vaccination rates are higher.
Vaccination rate not sufficient
Nevertheless, the rate is unfortunately still too low for herd immunity and a possible permanent return to a new normality. This is also confirmed by the district's public health officer and deputy head of the health department, Valentina Dick: "In order to achieve herd immunity and thus permanently contain the pandemic, more than 80 per cent of people nationwide would have to be vaccinated." Not forgetting that with a vaccination you protect your loved ones as well as yourself from the virus. "We are watching with concern the development in countries such as Spain or Great Britain, where the delta variant is increasingly spreading. Nationwide and in Waldeck-Frankenberg, the incidence is currently at a low level. To keep it that way, vaccinations must now continue to progress rapidly - also in view of a possible infection outbreak in autumn." In addition, the withdrawal of restrictions for vaccinated persons - especially with regard to tourism, gastronomy or culture - could contribute to a new normality and the handling of the virus.
Make an appointment today, get vaccinated tomorrow
In Waldeck-Frankenberg, making an appointment for a vaccination is therefore quick and easy: in addition to the official appointment portal of the state, the district has set up an appointment hotline: Call 05631 - 57 308 89 to make your personal vaccination appointment directly at the Korbach vaccination centre. The hotline is staffed from Monday to Saturday from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm. Anyone can make an appointment for a vaccination that suits them personally - regardless of any prioritisation. The only restriction is that only people who have not yet received their first vaccination can register. Because: People who have already been vaccinated once are already scheduled for the second vaccination where they received the first. For example, having the first dose administered at the family doctor's and the second at the vaccination centre is unfortunately not possible for logistical and organisational reasons.
"With the telephone appointment request service, in addition to the appointment portal and our vaccination follow-up platform, we can also make a quick offer to people who are not so flexible with their appointments because of work or childcare," emphasises District Administrator Dr Reinhard Kubat. "We want to make it as easy as possible for people in Waldeck-Frankenberg to get vaccinated." The appointment by telephone is one component.
