Cooperations and partners

Cooperations and partners

Improving cycling can only be achieved through good cooperation between many actors, first and foremost Hessen Mobil, the cities and municipalities and those responsible for public transport. In addition, there are numerous other partners, such as: (The list does not claim to be exhaustive)

AGNH
The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Nahmobilität Hessen (AGNH). This is a network of Hessian municipalities, universities, associations and institutions that strengthen walking and cycling in Hessen. In addition to access to important information (e.g. overview of subsidies) and working aids, the exchange of experiences among each other is profitable.

ADFC Hessen e.V.
Founded in 1986, the ADFC Hessen has around 19,000 members (as of January 2022). The state association represents the interests of cyclists in Hesse vis-à-vis state politicians and also carries out a wide range of activities: for example, the ADFC Hessen supports the state in signposting the Hessian long-distance cycle routes, advises companies and municipalities that want to become bicycle-friendly (bike + business), certifies bicycle-friendly accommodation (Bett+Bike) and offers cycling courses for adults. Waldeck-Frankenberg has also had its own district association since summer 2023.

Kreisverkehrswacht
The German Traffic Watch is one of the oldest and largest citizens' initiatives in Germany, united in around 600 traffic watches. They inform, advise and train safe behaviour in road traffic with road users of all ages. With children, young drivers, senior citizens and other groups particularly at risk of accidents, the Verkehrswacht holds training sessions to develop or refresh their skills.

Hessen Mobil
The respective road authority is responsible for the construction and maintenance of cycle paths. The state of Hesse is responsible for some of the measures to be implemented that are mentioned in the cycle path concept. Hessen Mobil is the responsible state road administration.

Public transport (Energie Waldeck-Frankenberg and the North Hessian Transport Association)
The North Hessian Transport Association (NVV) plans and finances the regional bus, tram and rail transport services and monitors their quality in the independent city of Kassel and in the districts of Kassel, Hersfeld-Rotenburg, Werra-Meißner, Schwalm-Eder and Waldeck-Frankenberg together with the state of Hesse.

EWF supplies electricity, natural gas, heat and water to more than 90,000 households in Waldeck-Frankenberg. It also organises local public transport. The transport services amounted to 7.0 million car kilometres in 2021. This service was provided on 45 bus lines and 55 call-sharing taxi lines.

Towns and municipalities of the district
The respective road authorities are responsible for the construction and maintenance of cycle paths. The cities and municipalities are responsible for some of the measures to be implemented that are mentioned in the cycle path concept.

Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Areas

Strengthening walking and cycling is a key area of action for mobility policy in Hesse. Various instruments are used here; the Local Mobility Strategy 2030, the AGNH, funding programmes or the construction of cycle paths on federal and state roads.
