Because anyone who decides to study at the district administration can look forward to a team of young and committed colleagues who will embark on this new stage of life with them. Led by the dynamic training team, the next three years will be exciting, diverse, varied and full of new experiences.

Bachelor of Arts - Public Administration

The theoretical content is taught at the Hessian University of Public Management and Security in Kassel (HöMS). The practical training takes place in several practical sections in the various specialised services of the district administration.

6 semesters = 3 years / start 01.09. each year

We offer graduates with a vocational baccalaureate (Fachabitur) or high school diploma (Abitur) and good grades in German, mathematics and politics/economics the opportunity to complete the dual study programme for a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration - i.e. the higher non-technical civil service career path. The theoretical content (legal and business subjects, social sciences and some elective modules) is taught at the Hessian University of Public Management and Security in Kassel (HöMS). Among other things, modules such as methods, administrative action, economic action and framework conditions of public administration are taught here.

During the practical semesters, you gain exciting insights into different areas of the district administration. In the last semester, you have to write your academic thesis. Here, a problem from practice is worked on and then defended in an oral examination (colloquium). During the course of study, students are initially appointed as civil servants and may call themselves inspector candidates.

You should enjoy dealing with laws and be interested in teamwork. Of course, a great willingness to learn and perform is a prerequisite. You should also enjoy dealing with citizens seeking advice.

According to § 5 of the Hessian Holiday Ordinance, students have 30 days of holiday per calendar year.

According to the Hessian Working Hours Ordinance (HAZVO), the working hours of students are 41.0 hours per week.

According to the Hessian Salary Act (HBesG), the salary is €1,367.62 per month and approximately €2,900 after successful completion of the degree.
