Offers for families with small children
Parents and family cafés
For parents and young families with children up to the age of three, the Waldeck-Frankenberg district, in cooperation with the municipalities, offers events for exchange.
Parents' café with reading aloud offer for parents with young children (with a focus on 0-3 years old)
The parents' café with a reading programme for parents with small children (mainly 0-3 years old) is run by the Waldeck-Frankenberg district in cooperation with the Frankenberg and Korbach public libraries. The events take place in a child-friendly environment and are accompanied by a library staff member and an educational specialist. Parents are given interesting and stimulating reading examples and can go on a journey of discovery into the world of books together with their child. Discovery backpacks filled with e.g. age-appropriate picture books, read-aloud books, hand puppets, audio plays and Tonie figures can be borrowed by parents and children.
Drop In(klusive): Welcome and meeting places for parents with infants and toddlers
Drop In(klusive) are open welcome and meeting places for parents with babies and toddlers. Since 20 June 2024, the Drop In(klusive) parent-child meeting place has been held weekly in Korbach. Mothers and fathers of children up to the age of three who would like to socialise with other parents and children are invited.
Casual exchange on everyday topics
Visitors can enjoy breakfast together or an afternoon snack with a relaxed chat about everyday topics for and with children as well as suggestions for children's play. Exercise and everyday language development as well as support and mediation for special family, health or educational concerns are also part of the programme. A parent counsellor, who is part of the early help network, is available as a contact person during the meetings.
Exchange and networking
The meetings are free of charge and take place on Thursdays from 3 to 5 pm in the Kreisel Family Centre (Am Mühlwege 6a, 34497 Korbach). Drop In(klusive) was developed as an open programme for parents with small children by the Karl Kübel Foundation for Child and Family. They are subsidised by the foundation and the Hessian Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Sport, Health and Care throughout the state. The programme enables families to exchange ideas and network with others and at the same time access information from the Early Help network on preventative development and health promotion services.
